Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand felt like a journey that kept moving upward.
It began around the energy of Rishikesh, where the river, streets, people, and constant movement gave everything a sense of momentum. From there, the roads climbed into a different world. Towns grew smaller, the air changed, and mountains began occupying more of the horizon.
Chopta and Auli brought a stillness that felt almost physical. The distances became larger, sounds travelled differently, and even an ordinary pause beside the road could become memorable. Up there, the weather shaped every view. Clouds could erase a mountain within minutes and reveal it again as though the landscape had been rebuilt.
These photographs follow that gradual change—from movement to stillness, from the river to the mountains, and from watching the landscape to feeling completely surrounded by it.

The journey through Uttarakhand stayed with me as a series of changes.
The river became a road. The road became a climb. The busy streets gradually gave way to open landscapes, colder air, and long stretches of silence. With every rise in altitude, the world seemed to expand while my own concerns occupied less space.
Rishikesh, Chopta, and Auli each carried a distinct energy, though together they formed one continuous movement toward quiet. By the time the mountains filled the view, looking felt like enough.
Perhaps that is what such places offer. They give no answers and make no promises. They simply create enough distance for us to hear our own thoughts more clearly.
