Kedarkantha

The Kedarkantha trek began long before the summit came into view.
It began beneath tall trees, on narrow trails, with the sound of boots pressing into snow and conversations growing shorter as the climb became steeper. The cold followed every step, settling into fingers, faces, and pauses that lasted slightly too long.
The summit push started in darkness. Our headlamps revealed only the next few metres, reducing the mountain to a series of careful steps. Somewhere beyond that darkness, the sky slowly began to change. The first light reached the surrounding peaks while we were still climbing, tired enough to question every step and close enough to keep going.
These photographs hold the full journey: the forests, camps, frozen mornings, shared exhaustion, and the quiet determination that carried us upward.

From the summit, the trail below seemed almost impossible to trace.
The forests, camps, steep sections, and hours spent walking had folded into the landscape. For a brief time, the exhaustion gave way to cold air, morning light, and mountains extending far beyond what the eye could follow.
The descent returned us to the same paths with different legs and a different understanding of the distance. The mountain had demanded patience, preparation, and more determination than any photograph could contain.
Reaching the top gave the journey an ending. Everything required to get there gave it meaning.
